How Often Is Data Updated?
Different parts of InvestorLens update at different frequencies. Here's a complete breakdown.
Update Schedule
| Feature | Update Frequency | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 13F Filing Ingestion | Every 6 hours | Checks SEC EDGAR for new filings |
| Holding Changes | On each new filing | Computed immediately after ingestion |
| Intelligence Briefs | Daily at 8am | AI-generated from recent filing activity |
| AI Infrastructure Scores | Daily at 9am | Computed from latest holdings data |
| Page Cache | Every 5 minutes | Server-side cache revalidation |
| Quarterly Filing Data | Quarterly | 13F filings only come out 4x per year |
What "Updated" Means
Filing ingestion means InvestorLens has checked whether a tracked investor has filed a new 13F with the SEC. If no new filing exists (which is the case most of the time — filings are quarterly), nothing changes.
Score updates mean InvestorLens has recalculated the AI Infrastructure scores based on whatever holding data is currently in the database. If no new filings came in, the scores will be identical to the previous day.
Page cache means the page you're viewing is refreshed from the database every 5 minutes. You're never looking at data older than 5 minutes old on the platform itself.
Why Data Feels "Stale"
The main reason data on InvestorLens feels stale is not InvestorLens's update frequency — it's the quarterly nature of 13F filings.
Between quarterly filings, the holdings data doesn't change because funds haven't filed new disclosures. This is by design and is a fundamental characteristic of 13F data.
