The 45-Day Problem
13F filings are reported quarterly, with up to 45 days after quarter end to file. This means:
- The most recent filing reflects positions from 45–135 days ago
- Investors may have significantly changed their portfolios since filing
- Acting on 13F data as if it were current is a mistake
